GLEANERS FOR GOOD

ProjectDetail-Gleaners

What is gleaning?

Are you a farmer with excess produce? A gardener with more food than you can handle? Are you a resident who'd like to help "glean" this surplus for your community's benefit? Give us a call or drop us an email! Gleaners For Good coordinates volunteers to collect otherwise uneaten home- and farm-grown produce for redistribution by local food banks. We intend to raise lasting awareness of today's massive food waste, to promote local urban farming, and to help feed those in need.

Gleaners For Good is one more enterprise the Riverside Food Co-op offers to create simple social efficiency. Sustainability. The monthly Member Crop Box, our KIVA Lending Group, our HEAL Zone programs, the drive to establish a local grocery store that highlights local producers--all exist to give our community, ourselves, new choices. Is there a better definition of independence? Join the co-op. Become a member.

Are you open to the public now that the coronavirus is affecting us?

We are working toward a brick and mortar store, achieved through our membership drive. Meantime, we have our monthly member crop box that supplies subscribers with fresh and local produce and supports those local farms. Members pick up at our distribution site, and this month we’ve instituted measures for social distancing. Friends, let’s get through this stronger together.
